I’ve found over the years this helps slow down the aging process in tattoos, but also with careful and realistic color placement and contrast this keeps a tattoo from fading irregularly, or looking strange later in life from color moving under the skin.

Tattoo inks do travel under the surface of the skin. Gradually over time and as we age the macrophages have deteriorated the ink’s to cause a diffusion effect to appear in tattoos as they age resulting in a less@clear image over time. The best bet you can have as a client is to work with an experienced artist who knows how their work ages to help mitigate against your tattoos falling apart in a few years.
